BEGINNING BEEKEEPING COURSE 2024

Every year, East Jefferson Beekeepers Association (EJBees) offers an IN-PERSON beginning beekeeping course taught by experienced beekeepers from our club. The next in-person course begins in February 2025

An ONLINE video presentation of the same material is STILL available (password-protected) on our blog (ejbees.com) to use for review and reference for the balance of this year. It also serves as an excellent stand-alone course for those located outside our area (East Jefferson County, WA) or who for other reasons cannot attend in person. View the classes online at your convenience any time!

Description: Description: One "module" (two classes) are presented every-other Saturday at the Chimacum Grange, 9572 Rhody Dr., Chimacum, WA, from early February through mid-April for the in-person course, followed by a practical, detailed hands-on apiary visit toward the end of April, open to all course participants.

The course is appropriate for adults, students, and families.

Topics include practical information and beekeeping techniques, as well as aspects of bee biology and behavior, and management of bee pests and diseases. You will learn how to receive new bees and safely transfer them into your prepared hives, and to handle live bees with confidence.

After taking this course, you will be ready to establish your own honey bee hives, with a personal, experienced mentor from EJBees available to help you get started.

Cost: The course is free of charge for EJBees members, and you must be a member to participate.

Join EJBees: Individual membership is $30/year; family membership is $45, and there are many benefits of being part of this organization: monthly general meetings with presentations, discussions, and Q&A sessions; special events throughout the year; a mentoring program; educational outreach; a monthly newsletter; and more!
